Focus and hope for the best
Studio time with the band has become so incredibly difficult do to resent restrictions. Namely the world wide pandemic Covid19. That being said, studios that have reopened are doing what they can to keep equipment and door knobs etc. sanitized.
I do not condone or condemn going to your favorite studio if they reopened. I am simply writing about it. If you are lucky enough to be back in the studio, I suggest making every note count. Not that bands don’t already, but we know there is a lot of BS time in between.
So, the reason I say every note should count is because the few places that opened to play at are probably not near you, and the gambit of musicians trying to get in the door will be astronomical. If they have an open mic, show up and pull out all the stops. Engage the crowd (if there is one) then talk to the manager when they are not preoccupied and ask for a time slot.
It is very important while rehearsing to make every moment count, because we never know how long anything, if anything, will last.
It is currently Aug 19th, 2020. we do not know if and or when everything or anything will reopen for musicians to gig at. Some musicians are fine with recording from home, the studio, etc. But some of us need to feel the compression of the people in front of us, the clanking of glasses in the backdrop and the movement of dancing for the thrill of the ride to take place.
Recording, live stream, live show, whatever your thing is, it is fair enough to say the world is changing, and I don’t mean for the better. Born in 1962 I remember going to live concerts all the time. Outside arenas, Madison Square Garden, sitting in the grass, (usually smoking weed) Those days are almost all gone. The now generation doesn’t seem interested in live concerts. At least not the way we did as kids. There is probably nothing wrong with that as long as it is realized.
