My word! Covid19 has the world in a pickle! You can get together with your band in a studio or at home but at what cost/risk? The idea of online concerts are f**ked up! Sure, my girlfriend tells me I can go play with the band, but I would have to quarantine myself for two weeks she said. We live together! How am I going to pull that one off?! The band would be getting together once a week! I will not rehearse through some stupid virtual format or play a show through one. What are these people thinking? Is this what the world has come to? Online concerts? Not me, no way Jack.

Lets think about how much fun it WON’T be. Lets see, hmmm, I pay for a ticket to a concert online. Sit home in my PJ’s and watch someone sing to an empty crowd as if they are all actually there. Bull donkey! Sounds like the Jan 1st 2021 concert they had for NY Times Square. They sang for nobody as if people were there, let alone it was one of the most miserable shows I have seen in a long time. At least that one was free, though a waste of time.

So I see ads for stuff like “Live stream concerts at Carnegie Hall.” and “Watch full length concerts online!” Are these people crazy? Is this what the new generation has to look forward to? I can’t wait for the time things get somewhat back to normal. You name it, and these people are doing it. I get it, it is the way they make some money, but c’mon, really? So glad I grew up in a time when you packed your friends in the car and drove to a show. A live concert. The Doobie Brothers, Styx, Aerosmith, Journey, Mahogany Rush, Ted Nugent, etc. Yes, the good old days, I guess.

I’ve been playing guitar and playing in shows for more than 40 years and I never imagined the world would turn out like this. What a mess. Well, it is now January 2021. We have a new President sworn into office. Lets hope he and his administration bring some relief and normalcy back to the country. Only time will tell. In the mean time I just keep playing at home and my band is sitting tight waiting as well. It has been a long time since we have played together and until these vaccines for this Covid19 pandemic kick in it could be even longer. I just hope they are all still onboard when the time is right.

Blacked Out Nation is the bands name. It has to do with a document that Stanton Freidman received. Here it is below.

This document was obtained by nuclear physicist and also well known UFO researcher Stanton T. Friedman. Except for a CC reference and the date, the contents of this document have been entirely blacked out. Hence, “Blacked Out Nation”.

We did put in for a patent on the name and we had a web page. I since let the page expire since nobody is really playing out anyway. There is nowhere to play anyway! Everything is closed tight. I know some bands personally that have been playing out a bit, but like I said in the beginning, “at what cost?” Every musician I know is now looking for other alternatives for jamming. Like I said, I’ll wait until I can play guitar with my bandmates again. It may be sometime until that happens but that’s okay.

So about online livestream concerts junk. I would imagine you get all dressed up to sit in front of a screen? I have recently noticed Walmart selling 70″ TV’s! You need a wall big enough for that kind of beast to begin with. I suppose you could stream a concert to the big TV and have friends over? With masks of course, until they need a drink or something, or food. Again, at what risk factor.

Hey, if you really want to learn guitar, since there is not much right now to do anyway. Johnny Cash played very few chords and made a carrier out of it. Most of his stuff was with his voice. Yes, his voice was unique, but perhaps you have that gift as well. He never played blaring solos and was not some guitar virtuoso. He strummed, sang, and gave us all something to listen to. Hey, his style might not be your style, that’s ok. Learn what you can. Guitar might not be your thing but we assume it is that’s why your here. So buy your first guitar if you haven’t already and play, strum, sing, whatever.
